Betalbatim located north of Colva is about 8 kms away from Madgaon. Betalbatim beach is popularly also called the sunset beach. Benaulim beach which is part of the same stretch of beach as Betalbatim is located about 7 kms south of Betalbatim with many shacks to the north of the main Benaulim beach entrance.
Just 2 kms south of Betalbatim is Colva famous for the "Menino Jesus" statue at the local church of Our Lady of Mercy founded in 1630 located in Colva village. This church in Colva is famous for its annual Fama of Menino Jesuse since the 17th century. The predominantly Catholic community celebrates it on the third Monday of October every year. It is one of Goa's most popular feasts and a big fair is held on the occasion at Colva.
Majorda beach is located about 4 kms north of Betalbatim. The main church in Majorda is the Mae De Deus church which was founded in 1588. Majorda is famous for the Goa Christmas Carnival it hosts which is celebrated with great pomp and fervor
